Inbound 2020: Aptitude 8's Biggest Takeaways

September 30, 2020

As the post-Inbound 2020 dust starts to settle, there is so much to unpack from this year's Hubspot conference.

The Aptitude 8 team was in full attendance over the course of the conference, keeping tabs on all of the new features, releases, trends and strategies.  Our internal team chat thread was buzzing with takeaways and “you must join this session” messages until the end of day two.

Whether or not you were able to join, we have put together the team’s most important takeaways from Inbound 2020:

“I think the biggest thing that makes us excited is that Hubspot is really formally acknowledging Revenue Operations and what RevOps means.”

“The thing I find most useful about Hubspot's Inbound conference is learning what's new with their products. In the very first session of the conference, Work Your Workflows, Anni Kim shared the 18 newest features for workflows. These feature updates really level up the kinds of marketing automation sequences we're able to do. One update was the ability to have up to twenty if/then branches, letting us make even more complex automations - and solve more problems. Hubspot releases hundreds of updates a year, and it's just a reminder of how powerful the platform is.”

          Amber Wojcek, Solutions Consultant II

“I won't spend too much time talking about custom objects here because I already did a whole video and wrote a whole article about it, but that's definitely my Number 1. Aside from that, I think the biggest thing that makes us excited is that Hubspot is really formally acknowledging Revenue Operations and what RevOps means. This has been Aptitude 8's focus since our inception and seeing a partner we consider key to our growth really say "this is a thing that matters" makes a huge impact for us.”

          Connor Jeffers, CEO

“Instead of being a marketing automation tool that does sales, Hubspot is now a revops tool that rivals the strongest names in the space.”

“The CMS Hub [and the updates they've made to it] is by far the most exciting thing for me as a marketer, coming off of Inbound2020. I NEVER thought I'd see the day when a marketing team could fully own the hosting, development, and maintenance of their entire website through their marketing automation platform. SO many marketers go through the struggle of their Product team owning the site, OR, marketing owns the site but it's built on a CMS that requires a ton of development work and isn't user friendly. With CMS Hub, marketing teams can fully own their site, which is the most important asset a brand can have...and they can do so while also managing workflows, advertising, events, social media, reporting and so much more. What a time to be alive!!!”

Emily Wingrove, Head of Demand Generation

“As somebody that works with sales teams across multiple industries and sizes, I think the sales hub updates are going to unlock a lot of sales team potential. Specifically the improvement around ease of use.  I speak with so many salespeople that are always looking for a simpler and more effective way to do their job. The sales hub update hits the nail on the head, especially for mid-market teams. Instead of being a marketing automation tool that does sales, Hubspot is now a revops tool that rivals the strongest names in the space.”

Kaitlynn Sirotkin, Head of Sales Enablement

“You could have very easily gotten overwhelmed by the sheer number of new features rolled out at Inbound 2020. However, CMS Hub and Custom Objects stand out the most to me. It’s now possible to build robust apps and websites on top of HubSpot CRM. The possibilities are literally endless.”

          Matt Cannizzo, Hubspot Solutions Consultant

“While new additions like CMS Hub and Custom Objects are incredible, the impact of the upgrades of existing tools cannot be understated.”

“The combination of Custom Objects, CMS Hub, and Marketing Hub will open new possibilities to deliver tailored experiences to current and potential customers. RevOps teams will be able to react quicker to the market without having to have a full dev team to support their needs.”

          Rob Cardenas, Revenue Operations Consultant

“While new additions like CMS Hub and Custom Objects are incredible, the impact of the upgrades of existing tools cannot be understated. The Custom Report Builder, Proposal/Quoting, and addition of Forecasting make Hubspot a very attractive option for bigger sales teams looking for a new CRM. The prospect of having the entire stack live in one ecosystem will give adopting orgs a tremendous competitive advantage.”

          Ryan Finkelstein, Revenue Operations Consultant

“As a Designer and first time attendee the sheer amount of features that were released to empower marketers was mind blowing. Marketers can easily leverage the “Drag - and Drop” feature without needing to rely on a developer or engineer team. With the same ease it gives developers a familiar space “Local Development tool“ to create custom themes, templates, modules, assets and workflows enabling the developers to increase their overall efficiency. Safe to say I am itching to be able to leverage these new opportunities because the possibilities seem infinite.”

          Anthony Anchante, Design Consultant
